Structure of Online Lessons

Many students have lessons twice a week for an hour at a time, and you may be wondering, is two hours a week enough for my child to learn English? This answer is yes. Of course, it is better to have as many lessons as possible but 2 hours a week is also enough.

Every hour is jam-packed full of exciting topics, we start the lesson with 10 minutes of general conversation, we talk about what we had for breakfast or what we’ve been up to since the last lesson, maybe something exciting happened, for example, your child went to the Zoo or went swimming, we spend time talking about this.

This sets the tone for the lesson, it relaxes the child but also gets them excited because they are already talking about something they are interested in which gets them excited for the rest of the lesson. After that we start talking about the topic of the week, every week there is a new topic, this can be anything from space to seasons, food, or Easter.

These topics are normally based on the world around us, topics we can talk about and useful to know. After the topic we focus on Phonics and reading, we learn a new letter and learn vocabulary to go along with that letter followed by reading with the letters we have learned so far. After phonics and reading, we do maths, we will cover all aspects of maths from counting forwards and backward, addition, subtraction, shapes and prepositions, and much more.

The final 5 minutes are spent relaxing, your child can sit back and listen to a story that I will read, the stories are usually linked to the topic of the week.

If you wish, we can also arrange homework for your child, this can be sent to you via WhatsApp or Email. The homework will be based on what we did during the previous lesson, once the homework has been completed you can send me a photo of it, and then in the next lesson, I can recap it with your child.
